THE ONLY COLLECTION
THAT SHIELDS
FROM
FACIAL
RECOGNITION
Description

The Hoodie is part of the MANIFESTO COLLECTION about knitted garments that shield facial recognition. The algorithm on the textile hinders the object recognition software’s capabilities, causing it to not recognize the person wearing this garment. Instead, it recognizes the textile as nothing, a “zebra”, or a “giraffe”.
This garment is double-faced: by choosing the side to wear the garment, you can decide whether to protect yourself from facial recognition or not.
Composition: 100% Made in Italy with long staple Egyptian Cotton BCI, produced by the Italian company Filmar.

FAQ
How does the technology work?
The technological innovation behind this project lies in creating a system capable of transposing adversarial images onto a fabric that can be used to deceive people detectors in real time. By wearing a garment in which an adversarial image is woven, one can protect the biometric data of their face, which either will not be detectable or will be associated with an incorrect category, such as "animal" rather than "person."
Is it legal?
The Manifesto Collection is legal to wear and enforces the GDPR laws protecting EU citizens’ privacy and human rights. Below is the legal review of our project developed by one of Italy's most competent privacy lawyers. Read our "Legal Opinion on the Production, Marketing, and Use of Knitted Garments that inhibit Automated Facial Recognition Tools under the European and Italian legal framework."
Where are the clothes made?
All the garments of the Manifesto Collection are designed and produced in Italy. We partnered up with textile factories that guarantee the highest standards of well-being for their workers as well as suppliers.
How was Cap_able born?
The project began in 2019 in New York, where a discussion on privacy and human rights inspired the founder and current CEO with a UC Berkeley engineer. Rachele developed the idea of combining fashion and computer science, and after months of research, the adversarial fabric with which the first Cap_able collection was designed and prototyped was born. When Rachele meets Federica Busani, a startup enthusiast, they decide to go beyond and found Cap_able srl, launching the Manifesto Collection commercially.
Is your technology patented?
Yes, we have patented our technology on both knitwear and woven. We are working on other technologies and applications that we hope to release soon!
Can you show a proof of how the tecnology works?
Yes! Whenever we participate in an event, we set up a real-time recognition system showing how our garments work. On our YouTube channel, you can find some videos about it, but make sure you join us in person so that you can see the demo live :)
